Laura McAndrews Ph.D.
Bio
Dr. Laura McAndrews is an Associate Professor in the School of Fashion at Kent State University. After receiving her BS in Apparel and Textile Merchandising at Kansas State University, Dr. McAndrews moved to NYC and received her AAS in Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design. With her education foundation in fashion merchandising and design, she worked for nine years at various fashion brands in NYC and Philadelphia in the areas of Fabric/Trim Research and Development, Design, Product Development, and Sourcing. Excited to teach others about the fashion industry, Dr. McAndrews went back to school and received her M.S. and Ph.D. at the University of Missouri, where she channeled her industry experience into teaching and research. At the University of Georgia as an Assistant Professor, she grew the Product Development and Design emphasis, creating new design classes and managing a Product Development and Design Lab along with a Maker's Space housing a Mutoh dye-sublimation printer. Her research has focused on the hidden voices of the global apparel supply chain.
